Memphis Farmers Market
Background
During the week the Pavilion at the Central Station serves as a transit facility for the City’s bus transfers, but on Saturdays, it is transformed into an active accessible place for the community to gather. As a founding board member, Dianne Dixon has provided site analysis and design for the use of the pavilion, parking lots, civic plaza and park pro bono. As the Architects for the Memphis Farmers Market, Clark+Associates Architects provided design and management services to bring the original pavilion up to code and later designed and managed the construction of the expansion.
The Market provides access to local food choices while educating the community on nutrition and good health, as well as, creates a sense of local pride. The Memphis Farmers Market is listed in the Tennessee Visitor’s Guide as one of the most exciting places in Memphis.
