Paris Landing State Park— Visitors’ Cabins
Background
As part of a capital improvement program implemented by the State of Tennessee, Clark+Associates Architects worked with Tennessee State Parks planners and a park manager to select an 11-acre site to develop 10 cabins. The site’s inherent amenities included lake views, natural topography and existing mature forest growth, all of which were incorporated into the design. Care was taken to emphasize the park setting and preserve the organic purity of the buildings themselves through the use of wood and stone. Site and land planning also were part of the overall design to preserve the nature of the site and provide roads and utilities. Clark+Associates Architects’ overall design was used as a prototype for other sites around the state.
