Raymond Skinner Center
Background
The Raymond Skinner Center located in Midtown Memphis is one of the only publicly operated community centers nationwide that provides recreational opportunities for physically and mentally disabled citizens in Memphis and the surrounding areas. Facility and pool improvements included widening heavy traffic spaces, updating finishes and fixtures, and incorporating equipment to enhance accessibility. Window views to the adjacent historic neighborhood park were maximized with urban art. Today, amenities include access to a variety of recreational activities in a safe environment for those who can’t be served in traditional settings.
