Defining
Our Values
At Clark+Associates Architects, we put our life in our work. We’ve worked tirelessly for two generations to preserve and advance a place’s architectural wonder, whether we’re working in our hometown of Memphis or in a city beyond.
Our Philosophy
We know that great architecture is about more than just great design; it’s about a sense of place, a sense of connection between the building and the people who will use it. It’s about creating something that will be useable for generations, not just look good for the present.
Our Name
We founded Clark+Associates Architects in 1987. As a minority-owned architectural firm, local and federal governments recognize our dedication, our attention to the smallest of details, and our experience with extensive documentation and budget sensitivities. And while many of our projects are in the public sphere, we also love to help our commercial and residential clients realize their visions for the future.
R. Larry Clark—Larry has devoted much of his career to the design and preservation of public buildings, and his knowledge of adaptive re-use and complicated building codes is second to none. He’s had the privilege of designing many unique projects including the one-and-a-half mile scale model of the Mississippi River featured in Memphis’ Mud Island Park. Larry earned a B.S. in architecture from the University of Arkansas – School of Architecture. He did graduate work in theater design at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design. Our Name
We’re proud to live and work in Memphis, Tenn. There’s a reason many people love this city, and it goes deeper than the food or the history or even the spirit of the place. It’s something more important: A soul. At Clark+Associates Architects, we’ve worked tirelessly for more than 20 years to preserve and protect the architectural wonder of this place we call home.
